About the Lecture

In early 2000, Bar Council resolved to establish an annual address in honour of Sir Maurice Byers. In recognition of Sir Maurice's principal areas of work, it was decided to make the focus one of constitutional or public law.

The 2006 Sir Maurice Byers Lecture was delivered by David Jackson
QC on Thursday, 30 March 2006 at 5.30pm. The lecture, titled ‘The Implications of the Constitution’, was held in the Bar Association Common Room. The lecture was published in the Winter edition of Bar News, the journal of the New South Wales Bar Association.
